Products description

Giulias which were produced until the 30th of August 2018 suffer from an annoying and for one or the other Giulia owner already painfull problem:
The open bootlid moves when caught by a gust of wind and in addition it has the dangerous attribute that the boot lid falls on the owners head just at the moment when one wants to unload the boot when the car is parked on a slope.

The Giulia's boot lid is held in open by two gas struts and two coil springs which are hidden under the (carpeted) side panels in the boot. The factory-mounted springs of cars made until the above mentioned date are too weak: the super lightweight aluminium boot lid was equipped with a factory-mounted thick bitumen mat quickly after the launch of the Giulia in 2015 to eliminate the tinny noise it made when closing it. Those OE springs are unfortunately a bit too weak to cope with the increased weight of the (bitumen mat-equipped) boot lid.

The springs which are included in this set are reinforced (being diameter 50 mm instead of 47 mm).
Additionally the set includes two modified rubber bump stops for the the boot lid hinges. These rubbers gently lock the hinges in the open position with the help of two latches and therefore avoid a movement of the lid when it is open.

The right side spring is easily accessable after the removal of the battery compartment's lid.
One has to remove two plastic clips of the left side side panel to gain access to the other spring.
We recommend to replace these clips.
